How to play
Draw the Flag names a country and gives you a blank canvas. You draw its flag from memory, then the game scores how close you got. That is the whole game — but there is a bit of craft to scoring well.
The tools
- Brush (b) — freehand, with an adjustable width.
- Fill (f) — flood-fills an enclosed area. The fastest way to lay in stripes once you have drawn the dividing lines.
- Rectangle (r) — drag to place a solid block. Best tool for most flags.
- Circle (c) — drag out from the centre.
- Eraser and Undo (Ctrl/⌘ + Z).
- Enter submits.
How scoring works
Your canvas and the reference flag are both divided into a fine grid and compared cell by cell in colour space. Cells that should be strongly coloured carry more weight than cells that should be white, so a blank or barely-filled canvas cannot score well against a flag that happens to contain a lot of white.
Practically, that means three things decide your score: filling the whole canvas, getting the arrangement right, and getting the colours roughly right. Shade has a generous tolerance. Neatness is not measured at all.
