Flags of Africa
This mode draws only from the 7 flags of Africa in the game. Working through one region at a time is far more effective than random practice: the flags you confuse are almost always neighbours, and seeing them back to back is what fixes the difference in your memory.
What the flags of Africa have in common
Across the 7 African flags in the game, the colours that turn up most often are white, red and dark green. Vertical bands are unusually common here: two flags use them against two built horizontally, which is the reverse of the global pattern and a frequent source of mistakes. Two carry a crescent, usually paired with a star — the differences are in the field colour and which way the crescent opens. Stars appear on three of them, so their number and arrangement are often the only thing separating two otherwise similar designs.
How to work through them
Start with the group above that you already half-know — recall is much easier to sharpen than to build from nothing. Draw two flags that look alike back to back rather than one at a time: the moment you have to decide which colour goes where, the difference stops being trivia and becomes something you actually remember. When a flag scores below 70, draw it again immediately rather than moving on; the second attempt is where the correction sticks.
Watch out for these groups
- pan-African tricolours — Red, yellow and green appear again and again; the emblem in the middle is usually what separates them.
- crescent-and-star flags — Check which side the crescent opens towards and whether the field is split before you draw.
